Hard Lessons Learned the Hard and Convoluted Way

You Made Jon Postel SadMe: What happened?
Max: Someone set up us the bomb. My site exploded
Me: How?
Max: I think the error is temporary while the dns servers change  to tumblr, but I have to reinstall the subsite to a new subdomain
Me: Ah
Max: Which is proving to be a bitch.
Me: So wait, what are you doing with your site?
Max: Installing wordpress to a subdirectory of my domain
Me: Changing dns servers? but .. hmm
Max: yeah
Me: Also, michael looks like evil spock
Max: oh…okay
Me: sorry
Max: like, goatee and all?
Me: um, I’m just wondering, if you’re switching dns servers from dreamhost to tumblr… and yes, goatee and all.
Max: are you guys going to see it?
Me: that means that url will no longer be associated with your hosting account. Yes, we are, next weekend.
Max: ah
Me: So i’m wondering how you’re going to create a subdomain if the url isn’t going to be associated with that hosting account anymore
Max: so he’s prepping the goatee now
Me: unless you can do that through tumblr?
Max: it still is
Me: he’s always had the goatee
Max: oh
Me: stop! too many conversations!
Max: it’s still hosted with dreamhost, it came free with the hosting
Me: right, but if you’re transferring dns servers, you’re moving your domain name. That’s what that means. So even if you get a subdomain set up through dreamhost, that’s temporary at best
Max: I cannot wiiiin
Me: You did not thiiiiiink
Max: i did not knooooow
Me: dns = domain name system.  now you knooooooow
Max: the more you knoooooow
Me: doo dooo dooooo dooooooooo
Max: well, fucksies
