For those of you unfamiliar with Nanowrimo, it’s the November group project for writing a novel. The goal is to just do it, regardless of how good or bad it may be. Just to be able to say, hey, I wrote a novel! And, just doing it means it’s far more likely you’ll actually write something worth editing and refining into something really, really good.

My mother recently bought us a 5-year plan book, which basically consists of pages of oddly sized and positioned text shouting, “You’re an amazing person! Honor your ancestors and celebrate your mother!” amongst other stuff. It also makes for a really strange bathroom read. “You can do it! There’s only one person like you!”

Anyway, as I’m reading this, I come to a realization: Just about anyone can get published these days.

“What are you up to, girlfriend?” Manfriend asked me, as I set the book down thoughtfully.
“My five year plan… I’m going to write a book.”
“About what?”
“Magic, Mystery and Adventure.” I replied.
“That sounds excellent.”
“Yes. And maybe we’ll make truckloads of money, and you won’t have to look for a job anymore. Unemployment will simply become… uh…”
“Independently wealthy.”
“Yes, exactly.”
“I wonder if I could just tell people that now.”
“A bold new strategy.”

"Mmmmm... karma money."

So, oddly enough, whenever we’re remotely low on cash, I find money. Today was no exception. A pile of cash was chillin’ outside of our building as we walked out to go food shopping, discussing the week’s budget. There was a neon post-it note attached, so we put up a note saying we’d found some money, and wanted to do the right thing, so please call us and let us know how much you lost and what the note we found with it said.

Suffice it to say, Karma gave us $20 reward and a happy conscience. Not quite enough to cover my Art Wishlist, but I’d definitely be able to get a few nice prints.

1. GLANA Picture Frame from IKEA. I want this for my new office. Not 100% sure what I’d put in it, though.

2. An Ocean Between Print from etsy seller myfolklover. I love this print and would put it in the bathroom. It’s got a perfect water theme that jives well with hygiene.

3. Human Nature Print from etsy seller shirae. There’s something deliciously unsettling about this one. It just looks so ominous and whimsical, all at the same time. I love stuff like this.

4. Seduction Cards from etsy seller HiddenSeek. Again, the title, Seduction, mixed with the image is just slightly unsettling. It also makes me think of the fairy tale story, Snow White & Rose Red. I was always Snow White when I was little.

5. We Grew Together Print from etsy seller ThePaperApartment. This is just beautiful and makes me think of growth and self-identity.

6. Oscar Box Art Robot Print from etsy seller johnwgolden. I love this funky futuristic yet grungy style. A great addition to our office.

7. Now I know my ABC’s Print from etsy seller yumiyumi. I just really like this style and the disorganized letters.

8. Nap Time Print from etsy seller SepiaLepus. Something about this print just makes me smile. Something to put next to the bed.
